About KeenIELTS

KeenIELTS is a free IELTS preparation platform. It offers full-length practice tests across all four IELTS skills — Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking — plus targeted drills by question type and a library of real student model answers with band scores. The core practice experience is free: taking tests, receiving AI band scores and detailed feedback requires no payment (the platform is supported by advertising).

The platform is actively used by 122,000+ registered students, who have completed 3,183,000+ scored practice attempts.

Writing and Speaking attempts are evaluated by Google Gemini AI models against the official public IELTS band descriptors on the four marking criteria: Task Achievement / Task Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy. Each criterion is scored on the 9-band IELTS scale. Listening and Reading tests are checked instantly against answer keys and converted to band scores using the official conversion tables.

An honest note on accuracy: AI band scores are practice estimates, not official results. They are calibrated against the public band descriptors and monitored continuously, but an individual score can differ from what a human IELTS examiner would award, particularly at the highest bands. Use them to track progress and find weaknesses — not as a certified measure of your level.

The model answers library contains real student submissions — not synthetic essays — each with its AI examiner band score and criterion-by-criterion feedback, so you can see exactly what separates a Band 6 answer from a Band 7, 8 or 9 one.
