The graph below gives information about the percentage of the population in four Asian countries living in cities from 1970 to 2020, with predictions for 2030 and 2040. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The line graph illustrates the percentage of total population growth in urban areas of different countries Philippines,Malaysia,Thailand,and Indonesia between 1970 to 2020 and show prediction for 2030 to 2040 .

Overall the inhabitants of Malaysia and Indonesia climbed gradually and will follow in upcoming years till 2040 , the proportion of individuals in Philippines and Thailand fluctuates from recent years while the predicted percentage will also change with the passage of every 10 years .

Looking ahead the Malaysia was at highest in 2020 with 75% of inhabitants after that its value will continue on surge in 2040 .

Moreover the percentage of people living in city areas of Philippines was rise and fall from 1970 to 2010 after that it increase after 10 years and predicted to escalate in future .

Looking forward all countries are predicted to continue urbanization .by 2040 Malaysia is forecast to reach 90% while Philippines, Thailand , and Indonesia expected to reach 70%, 68%, and 65%
