Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, identifying the trends for the four countries. However, the data reporting is occasionally inaccurate or confusing. For instance, stating that the Philippines had the 'maximum number of population' in 1970 is not clearly supported by the graph, and the description of the trends lacks precision. While you identify the start and end points, the comparison between countries is somewhat underdeveloped. To improve, ensure that you clearly distinguish between the countries and use more precise data points to support your observations. The overview is present but could be more clearly articulated to highlight the overall shift in urbanization across the period.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally awkward, such as the transition 'For instances' and the repetitive use of 'population' and 'cities'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition between the initial data and the future projections feels abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the logical flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for higher bands. There is significant repetition of words like 'population', 'cities', and 'living'. Some word choices are imprecise, such as 'erratic pattern' to describe a steady increase or 'ratio' when referring to percentages. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate a wider range of synonyms and more sophisticated collocations related to data description, such as 'urbanization rate', 'projected figures', or 'upward trajectory'. Avoid using informal or repetitive phrasing to ensure a more academic tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the initial population of population indonesia was minimum', 'People from these cities represents', and 'The forecasting of people living in the cities of Thailand will be minimum'. These errors involve subject-verb agreement, article usage, and awkward phrasing. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your accuracy.
