Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all key features of the graph, including the trends for all four countries and the future projections. You have successfully identified the main trends, such as Malaysia's significant growth and the fluctuations in the Philippines. However, the overview is slightly weak; while it mentions the general rise, it could be more precise by highlighting the most significant contrast, such as the gap between Malaysia and the other nations by 2040. The data points are generally accurate, though ensure that comparisons are made more explicitly throughout the body paragraphs to better meet the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'However', and 'on the other side' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly abrupt. The referencing is generally clear, but the internal structure of the sentences could be improved to ensure a smoother progression of information. Paragraphing is used appropriately, which helps the reader follow the development of your analysis.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'fluctuated', 'significantly', and 'gradually'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'ratio of population' (percentage of the population is more accurate) and 'population which habitat in city' (which is grammatically incorrect and uses 'habitat' as a verb). To reach a higher band, try to use more precise academic vocabulary and avoid repetitive phrasing. Spelling is generally accurate, but ensure you capitalize proper nouns like 'Malaysia', 'Philippines', 'Thailand', and 'Indonesia' consistently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'in which malaysia will be the most populated' (should be 'most urbanized'), 'population lived in city' (should be 'urban population'), and issues with article usage and punctuation (e.g., missing spaces after commas). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative clauses to improve your accuracy.
