Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the ability to fully address the task. While you have attempted to identify the main trends and provided an overview, the response stops abruptly after the introduction and the start of the first body paragraph. Because the report is incomplete, it fails to present a comprehensive summary or make all relevant comparisons required by the prompt. To improve, you must ensure you complete the analysis of all data points and provide a full report that meets the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is too short to demonstrate effective paragraphing or a logical progression of ideas. While the introduction and the overview are clearly separated, the abrupt ending prevents the development of a coherent structure. Cohesive devices are used in a basic way, such as 'Overall' and 'Firstly', but the lack of a completed body paragraph makes it difficult to assess your ability to link information effectively. You should focus on structuring your response into a clear introduction, an overview, and two detailed body paragraphs to ensure a logical flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the task, such as 'urbanization', 'significant increase', and 'upward trend'. However, the range is limited due to the brevity of the text. There are some minor errors, such as 'cities residents' instead of 'city residents' and the repetition of 'in all the countries'. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'plateaued', or 'surpassed', and ensure your word choices are precise and grammatically accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The text contains several grammatical errors, including 'by by the year 1970 to 2020' and 'there is also a an upward trend'. The sentence structures are relatively simple, and the errors in prepositions and articles indicate a lack of control over complex structures. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of errors in such a short text is noticeable. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic errors like double words and incorrect article usage, and try to incorporate a variety of sentence structures, such as complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions.
