Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to summarize the graph but fails to provide a clear overview or accurately report the data. The description of the trends is confusing and contains factual inaccuracies, such as stating that Malaysia and the Philippines started at 30% in 1970, which does not align with the provided data. Furthermore, the summary of the 2040 predictions is imprecise and lacks a logical structure. The response does not clearly distinguish between the four countries or their specific trajectories, making it difficult for the reader to follow the information. To improve, you must focus on identifying the most significant trends and reporting the data points with greater precision.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. The introduction is a run-on sentence that repeats the prompt, and the body paragraphs are poorly organized, making it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas; instead, the text relies on repetitive phrasing like 'till the time' and 'the graph shows'. Paragraphing is not used effectively to separate the overview from the detailed data analysis. To improve, use clear topic sentences for each paragraph and employ linking words such as 'whereas', 'subsequently', or 'in contrast' to connect your points logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'goes' or 'starts'. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'phillippines', 'pupolation', and 'predicition'. The phrasing is often awkward, such as 'has go for the 90%', which hinders clarity. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends accurately (e.g., using 'upwards the graph' instead of 'showed an upward trend'). To improve, focus on learning specific collocations for describing graphs, such as 'experienced a steady increase', 'reached a peak', or 'remained stable'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'two countries... starts'), incorrect verb tenses, and poor sentence construction. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, lacking proper punctuation. For example, 'the graph shows that the information about...' is an incomplete thought structure. The use of complex sentence structures is attempted but results in errors that obscure the meaning. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and using correct punctuation, particularly commas and periods, to separate distinct ideas.
