Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the graph, identifying the upward trends and the dominant position of Malaysia. However, the analysis is marred by significant inaccuracies in data interpretation. For instance, you mention a 'dramatic decline' for the Philippines in 2010, which is not supported by the typical trajectory of such data, and your description of Thailand's trends is confusing and contradictory. While you attempt to report the main features, the lack of clarity in data reporting and the inclusion of some confusing statements mean that the overview is not fully developed or accurate. To improve, ensure that your data points are clearly linked to the correct years and countries.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is frequently interrupted by unclear referencing and awkward transitions. Phrases like 'Another details' and 'As per representation on line graph' are mechanical and do not effectively guide the reader. The relationship between sentences is often strained, making it difficult to follow the comparison between the four countries. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices, they are often used incorrectly or in a way that creates confusion rather than clarity. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and often used inaccurately. Phrases such as 'strikling feature', 'y rocket jumped', and 'so inclined significantly' demonstrate a lack of control over collocations and word choice. There is also a tendency to use repetitive structures when describing trends. While the meaning is generally discernible, the errors in word formation and choice are frequent and sometimes impede the flow of information. To reach a higher band, focus on learning standard phrases for describing graphs, such as 'experienced a steady increase' or 'reached a peak of'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('least population had been Thailand'), article usage, and sentence structure ('Malaysia population was sharp incline'). Many sentences are fragmented or lack the necessary prepositions to be grammatically sound. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often faulty, leading to confusion. The majority of sentences contain errors, which prevents the writing from reaching a higher level of accuracy. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be a good starting point for improvement.
