Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all four countries and the time frame provided. You successfully identified the main trends, such as Malaysia's significant growth and the relative stability of Thailand. However, the overview is slightly confusing; stating that Malaysia will have the 'maximum strength of people' is awkward, and the comparison between countries could be more precise. While you mention the intersection point for Indonesia and Thailand, the description of the Philippines is underdeveloped, as you only mention fluctuations without detailing the specific trajectory or the final predicted figures. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points mentioned are clearly linked to the years provided in the graph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'In case of', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'intimate familiar trends of each other'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different trends, which helps the reader follow the comparison. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more fluidly rather than relying on simple conjunctions.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'intersection', and 'forecasted'. However, there are several instances of unnatural word choice and collocation errors, such as 'residentials' (should be 'residents' or 'residences'), 'intimate familiar trends' (should be 'similar trends'), and 'maximum strength of people'. Additionally, 'Thai's' is a grammatical error (possessive vs. plural). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, the lack of precision and occasional misuse of terms prevent a higher score. Focus on learning common collocations related to data description.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'is illustrates' (should be 'is illustrated'), 'were started' (should be 'started'), and 'remained constant to' (should be 'remained constant at'). The use of articles and prepositions is also inconsistent. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice when describing data trends.
