Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to summarize the graph but fails to provide a clear overview or accurately report the data. The description of trends is often inaccurate; for example, stating that the Philippines' population 'remained same in 1990 to 2000' contradicts typical graph data, and the mention of '20230' is a clear error. The response lacks a logical selection of key features, focusing on minor details while missing the broader trends of urbanization across the four countries. The overview provided is vague and does not effectively synthesize the information presented in the graph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the progression of ideas is disjointed. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and often incorrect way, such as the repetitive use of 'from... to...' structures without clear logical links between sentences. The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the four countries. The overall arrangement of information is confusing, and the lack of logical flow significantly hinders the clarity of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'increase', 'decrease', and 'people'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'average ratio of Philippines people were low' and 'strength of people'. The misuse of numbers (e.g., '2-030') and the lack of precise terminology for describing trends (e.g., 'dramatically increase') limit the ability to convey information effectively. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'population... were', 'people... was'), incorrect tense usage, and awkward sentence construction. Punctuation is also problematic, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. The lack of control over basic grammatical rules makes the text difficult to read and understand, preventing it from reaching a higher band score.
