Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the ability to address all parts of the task. While you have attempted to identify an overall trend, the description is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence. You have failed to provide a detailed report of the data, missing key comparisons and specific figures for the four countries mentioned. To improve, you must ensure you cover the entire period (1970–2040) and provide a comprehensive summary of the main features, including clear data points for each country to support your observations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is too short to demonstrate a clear logical progression or effective paragraphing. While there is a basic attempt at an introduction and an overview, the abrupt ending prevents the development of a coherent structure. Cohesive devices are minimal, and the flow of information is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. To improve, focus on structuring your response into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and two body paragraphs detailing the specific data points for each country.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, such as 'increased' and 'percentage of population'. There are also spelling errors, such as 'distict' instead of 'distinct', 'Phillippines' instead of 'Philippines', and 'reamined' instead of 'remained'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate a wider variety of verbs and nouns to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'surpassed', or 'proportion', and ensure you proofread for spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors, including missing articles ('in cities', 'in Phillippines') and incorrect verb forms ('would be reamined'). The sentence structures are simple and limited. Because the text is incomplete, it is difficult to assess your ability to use a range of complex structures. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and article usage. Once you can write error-free simple sentences, begin incorporating complex structures like relative clauses or contrastive conjunctions (e.g., 'while', 'whereas') to improve your range.
