The graph below gives information about the percentage of the population in four Asian countries living in cities from 1970 to 2020, with predictions for 2030 and 2040. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The chart exhibits the variation of four asian countries population residing in cities between 1970 to 2040. Overall, there is an increasing trend among all countries except philippines.
It is quite evident from the diagram that Malaysia has the increasing trend on the contrary philippines trajectory is compartivelt low. In 1970 the highest percentage of people settling in cities was from philippines but after 1990, it started to go donwward till 2010.
Furthermore, as per the future predictions all the countries have upward promising trend. Malaysia is expected to be reach around 80% whereas in indonasia this ratio is see to increase upto 30%. Two of countries thailand and philippines are moving with moderate pace and their population is increasing at the marginal rate. Its also been observed irrespective of the countries, urbanisation is increasing with the passage of time which will create a positive impact on the economy of these countries.
