The graph below gives information about the percentage of the population in four Asian countries living in cities from 1970 to 2020, with predictions for 2030 and 2040. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The given line graph tracks the information about the percentage of the citizens who lives in a various Asian countries living in urban areas and the duration of the time period from 1970 to 2020. It also give predictions for 2030 and 2040.
In 1970, Philippines and Malaysian cities have a highest rate of population, which was near about 30%. However, the least number of people who lives in Thailand and Indonesian cities, which was around 18% and 15% respectively. After two decades, Philippian cities population were significantly rose and touched to 50%. Meanwhile, other three countries
urban areas were gradually increased. But after 1990, the ratio of the Philippian citizens were dramatically decreased up to 10% in 2010. In contrast, the Malaysian population has been rapidly increased and reached the highest population.
Furthermore, remaining two countries urban areas were Thailand and Indonesia. Thailand population graph was stagnant until 2020 and after following years it will be rose and reached almost 42% in 2040. Nevertheless, Indonesian cities reported continuous urbanization after 1980 and it touched to the Thailand cities population in the year 2000.
Overall, it is clear that the maximum amount of population has been noticed in Philippines in initial year. But after 2010, all cities population was increased. it will be predicated that the Malaysian and Indonesian cities population cross 50%. While, Philippines and Thailand population below the 50%.
