Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, stopping short at only 97 words. While the writer attempts to address the task by selecting a few main features, the response is too brief to be fully developed. The overview is very limited, merely mentioning Malaysia and Thailand in a single, under-developed sentence without properly outlining the overall trends. Details regarding the data points are sparse and partially inaccurate, reflecting a minimal response to the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation attempted, but the text lacks an overall progression and clear logical flow. The text is divided into short, disjointed blocks rather than proper paragraphs. Cohesive devices are largely absent or inadequate, with abrupt transitions between ideas, such as moving from the introduction straight into a brief overview and then jumping into specific data points. Referencing and linking between sentences are weak, causing the information to feel fragmented and difficult to follow smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are several noticeable spelling and word choice errors that detract from the quality, such as 'pridiction', 'countires', 'contiues', 'Phillipins', and 'approximaitly'. The student attempts some basic topic-related vocabulary like 'proportion' and 'population', but the overall lexical range is narrow and repetitive, restricting the ability to convey precise information about the graphical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent structural errors. Attempts at complex sentences are faulty, seen in run-on phrasing and missing punctuation, such as 'In the year 1970 Phillipins and Malaysia almost 30% of both country`s population lived in city where the people of Phillipins were at slightly edge...'. Frequent errors in prepositions, article usage, and subject-verb agreement occur throughout the text, causing some difficulty and confusion for the reader.
