Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially because it misinterprets the chart's subject, repeatedly referring to 'cities' and 'countries' interchangeably as being 'populated' with percentages rather than reporting the percentage of the population living in urban areas. While the overview attempts to summarize the general upward trend, the selection of data is erratic and lacks clarity. Some key features are mentioned, such as Malaysia starting at thirty percent and rising, but the details are inaccurate or poorly expressed. The ideas remain limited and under-developed, preventing a clear, comprehensive overview of the main trends across the four countries.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organization with paragraph breaks, but the response lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'First of all' and 'In other side if we look', which creates a mechanical and disjointed feel. Referencing and logical sequencing are occasionally faulty, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of comparisons between the countries. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph cohesion needs significant improvement to guide the reader smoothly through the visual data.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that cause difficulty. There are frequent word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as using 'populated' to describe a percentage instead of a density or total, and writing 'most less populated city' instead of least urbanized country. Spelling errors and incorrect word forms also appear, such as 'garph' instead of graph and 'predictes', which detracts from the overall lexical quality and restricts the response to a lower band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response shows a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or faulty complex sentences. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'The graph illustrate', missing articles such as 'in philippines', incorrect verb forms like 'started raise', and awkward prepositions. Punctuation and capitalization are also problematic, as seen in 'tHe most'. These frequent errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control of basic grammatical patterns.
