Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response partially addresses the task by attempting to report the main features and trends of the four countries from 1970 to 2040. However, the information presented is sometimes inaccurate or poorly summarized, such as stating that 'Thai population were lower than other' without nuance or misreading some specific percentages. Furthermore, the length requirement of 150 words is not met, as the text is slightly short of the minimum. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to ensure all data points are read correctly from the graph, select key comparisons more effectively, and fully meet the word count requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organization with an introduction and separate body paragraphs for different countries, but there is no clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are minimal, repetitive, or inaccurate, as seen in phrases like 'In starting time' and 'for remain time'. Paragraphing is attempted, but referencing between sentences is often unclear, making the flow disjointed. To achieve a higher score, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure logical sequencing of ideas throughout the report.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. There are frequent spelling mistakes and word-form errors, such as 'Malasyan', 'Phillippiness', 'flacuation', 'habbitants', and 'diclined'. The range of vocabulary is restricted, and attempts at less common lexical items often result in noticeable errors that cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, the writer must focus on correct spelling, expand their range of descriptive vocabulary for trends and statistics, and learn standard collocations for academic data reporting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The grammatical structures used are very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex ones. There are frequent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'depicts about population over the time', 'population started were with equal number', and 'eith pediction'. Punctuation and word forms within grammatical patterns also show frequent inaccuracies that impede smooth reading. To progress, the writer needs to practice complex sentence structures, maintain consistent past and future tenses, and improve basic sentence construction.
