Overall, the proportion of population living in cities was the highest in Malaysia, whereas Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia also increased over the period, but they were lowest as compared with Malaysia. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover the full time span and all four countries, and your overview identifies Malaysia as the highest and notes that the figures are generally expected to rise. Several comparisons are supported by relevant data, such as Malaysia’s increase from about 30% to over 80%. This meets the task well, with some features reported in useful detail. However, a few figures and trends are inaccurate: Indonesia was about 14% in 1970, not 11%, and reached roughly 64% by 2040, rather than 60%; the Philippines peaked at about 48% in 1990, not around 50% through 2010. The overview also overlooks Indonesia’s strong rise and the Philippines’ fluctuation. More precise selection and comparison would strengthen the report further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs grouping Indonesia with Thailand and then the Philippines with Malaysia. This makes the main comparisons reasonably easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Overall,” “However,” and “Turning to.” At times, though, connections between ideas are awkward or unclear. For example, “In 1970, the were living in Indonesia” does not clearly introduce the figure, and the long sentence beginning “The significant growth was showed” joins several points without effective punctuation. Some transitions, including “Despite that,” do not express the relationship precisely. Use clearer topic sentences and divide complex comparisons into shorter, logically connected sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “fluctuated,” “surged,” and “gradually,” and these choices help describe changes over time. There are also attempts to vary expressions for increases rather than repeating one verb throughout. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “the population will gradually increased,” “the significant growth was showed,” and “which will be highest than.” Spelling errors in “pupulation,” “predicition,” “remainded,” and “steadly” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, conventional chart language—for example, “the proportion rose” or “the figure is projected to reach”—and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “whereas” and “which,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in sentence structure and verb forms are frequent enough to make some passages difficult to read. Examples include “the were living in Indonesia,” “it increased significantly to 40% by 2010, it rose to 50%,” and “it will increase and reaching to 50%.” There are also problems with agreement and tense, as in “the prediction indicate” and “this keep fluctuated.” Work on complete sentence boundaries, consistent past tense for historical data, and correct future forms such as “is predicted to reach.” Greater control of these patterns would make your comparisons clearer.
