Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the chart’s subject and include an overview that urbanisation generally rises, with Malaysia becoming the highest and Thailand remaining comparatively low. You also make relevant comparisons, such as Indonesia and the Philippines being at similar levels around 2010. However, several key details are inaccurate or unclear: Malaysia is reported at 70% in 2000, although it is about 60%, and the 2040 figures are presented as if they were the future endpoint without clearly distinguishing the 2030 and 2040 predictions. The claim that Malaysia “fluctuate[s]” is not supported by its steady rise. Some important trends, especially the Philippines’ rise and subsequent dip before increasing again, are only partly described. More accurate, selective reporting would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an identifiable introduction, overview, and body paragraphs, and it attempts to organise information chronologically. Phrases such as “Overall,” “After two decade,” and “In conclusion” signal stages in the discussion. However, progression is not consistently clear: the account jumps between years and countries, and the final paragraph repeats future comparisons rather than adding a distinct concluding insight. Some links are inaccurate or awkward, including “In 1980 countries population increased rather than philippines,” which makes the comparison difficult to follow. Grouping the historical data into clearer stages and then treating the forecasts separately would improve the overall flow. Use linking expressions only where they accurately show the relationship between the figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “population,” “increased,” and “approximately,” so the main topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, particularly “population” and “reached.” Some word choices are imprecise for describing a line graph: “Malaysia contribute 80 percent” and “Malaysia fluctuate toward the 80 percent” do not clearly express the trend. Spelling errors such as “inclued,” “philppines,” “thiland,” and “opproximately” are noticeable and can slow the reader. Aim for accurate trend language and collocations, such as “the proportion living in cities rose” or “the figure is projected to reach,” while checking country names and common academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the overall meaning can usually be recovered. However, grammatical errors are frequent, and attempts to combine ideas often produce unclear structures. For example, “The line chart illustrates … and predict population” shifts verb form, while “the population of thailand and indonesia reached at the same point” has an awkward sentence pattern and preposition. Tense and agreement are also inconsistent in “the population wil be increase” and “the rate … increase.” Punctuation and spacing errors, including missing spaces after full stops and commas, further affect readability. Practise accurate past-tense descriptions for historical data and use “is projected to rise” for forecasts; keep sentences shorter until these patterns are controlled.
