Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the general topic and include some relevant comparisons, such as Malaysia reaching about 80% by 2040 and the Philippines being lower. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: Malaysia rises rather than showing a “followed upsurge ratio,” and Indonesia increases, not follows a downward trend. Several figures and dates are also misreported: Thailand rises by about 12 percentage points from 1970 to 1990, not 28%, and the chart’s final years are 2030 and 2040, not 2024. The response selects some features but leaves the main trends and country rankings insufficiently clear. Give a concise, accurate overview, then support it with correctly chosen comparisons across the full period.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an opening, several body sections and a concluding sentence, so there is some organisation. However, the progression between ideas is difficult to follow: “after analyzing the details” and “completing rest of the information” do not clearly signal how the data are being grouped. Comparisons are sometimes compressed into confusing sentences, particularly the discussion of Thailand and Indonesia, while the final “all in all” repeats a general statement rather than summarising the key trends. Linking words such as “further” and “moreover” are used, but they do not consistently clarify relationships. Organise the report into a clear introduction, overview and two comparison-focused paragraphs, and use linking expressions only where they accurately show contrast or sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of trend vocabulary, including “fluctuations,” “surge” and “projections,” and the topic is generally recognisable. However, many word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “followed upsurge ratio,” “downward ratio,” “inclined continuously” and “percentage of living cities individuals.” Spelling errors, including “propotion,” “phillippines” and “steadly,” also make the report less clear. Some expressions appear to be chosen for formality rather than precision. Use standard chart language consistently—for example, “the proportion of the population living in cities,” “rose steadily,” “declined” and “is projected to reach”—and check spelling and country names carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts longer sentences and uses some time references, but the range of sentence structures is limited and complex attempts are often faulty. For example, “in year 1970 to 1990 thailand had 28% population rose instead of indonesia had only 20%” lacks a clear grammatical relationship between the clauses. There are frequent problems with articles, agreement, tense and sentence boundaries, as in “The provided line graphs depicts” and “malaysia had few fluctuations shown.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, with several sentences beginning in lowercase and missing spaces after full stops. Build accurate simple sentences first, then combine comparisons using controlled structures such as “While X rose, Y remained…”.
