Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 2.5
The response identifies the chart’s subject, countries, axes and time span, so it is relevant to the task. However, it does not summarise the data: there is no overview of the main trends, no comparisons between countries, and no figures or changes are reported. The statement that the countries “play a crucial role in Asian country” is unsupported and does not describe the graph. The response also contains only 76 words, below the required 150, leaving the task substantially incomplete. To improve, add an overview—for example, Malaysia rises to the highest projected level, while all four countries increase overall—and support it with selected comparisons and approximate figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the graph, names the countries, and then describes the axes. This gives the reader a simple starting point, but the ideas do not progress into a summary of the data, and there is no paragraphing to distinguish an introduction, overview and details. Connectors such as “Although” and “Moreover” are used, but “Although” does not introduce a contrasting clause, while “yet” makes the axis description feel awkwardly joined. Organise the response into clear paragraphs and use linking expressions to show actual comparisons and changes, rather than adding connectors without a clear relationship.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “line graph,” “percentage,” “X-axis” and “Y-axis,” and the reader can identify the general topic. However, the range is narrow and several spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy: “prdictions,” “countires,” and “real percentage” are examples. “These four countries play a crucial role in Asian country” is vague and not an appropriate description of the data. Use precise terms for trends and comparisons, such as “rose,” “remained stable,” “accounted for,” and “was higher than.” Check spelling carefully and choose wording that reports what the graph shows rather than making general claims about the countries.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts both simple and more extended sentences, but grammatical control is uneven. In the opening, “This line graph illustrate” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “percentage of Asian four countries population live in cities” lacks a clear grammatical structure. “Although” begins a sentence without a main clause to complete its contrast, and “the Y-axis shows the real percentage of the people” uses an awkward article and noun phrase. The final sentence also joins clauses with “yet” in a way that is difficult to follow. Build accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled complex structures; check agreement, articles and clause connections before finishing.
