Student answer (Band 5.0)
As we can see that the graph displays the percentage of the population of the Aisan countries. Such as Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, from 1970 to 2020. And it also predicts the future trends between 2030 to 2040
It shows the peak population is in malaysia around 75% in 2020 and goes high as it goes. The lowest population is in Thailand about 25% and it raises in the future
In this context Indonesia is the lowest in 1970 s jusy about 12% and it continuesly growing since then it follows a consistance growing path. The Thailands graph is bit different from 1970 to 1990 it grows singnificantly but from from 1990 to 2020 it maintained a straight line about 30% give or take. The Philippines graph is bit different and more unique from others it started at 31% in 1990 and grows about 20% and reach total 50% in 1990 and suddenly it drops significantly and started rising again in 2010. The Malaysias graph has shown that this country has most population it stated at 30% in 1990 and rises than since and riches around 81% in 2040 as predicted.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the four countries and the period, and you include some relevant figures, such as Malaysia reaching about 81% in 2030 and Indonesia rising over time. However, the response only partially reports the graph’s main features, and several statements are inaccurate or unclear. Malaysia is already the highest in 2020 at about 76%, but Thailand is not the lowest throughout: Indonesia is lowest in 1970. The Philippines began at about 32% in 1970, not 31% in 1990, and its rise to around 48% occurred by 1990. There is no clear overview comparing the overall patterns. To improve, give a concise overview first, then accurately compare the main rises, falls and projected figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it begins by introducing the graph and then discusses individual countries, with separate paragraphs providing basic grouping. However, the progression is not consistently clear, and the country-by-country details sometimes repeat the same point, such as Malaysia having the highest figure. Linking is limited, while phrases such as “In this context” do not clearly show how the next point relates to the previous one. The opening also breaks the introduction into fragments beginning “Such as” and “And it also predicts.” Organise the report into a clear introduction, an overview of the main comparisons, and detail paragraphs grouped by similar trends. Use linking expressions to show contrast and change over time.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant graph vocabulary, including “percentage,” “predicted,” “growing,” “maintained,” and “rises,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which can make the description difficult to follow. For example, “peak population” is not precise for the highest urban-population share, and “goes high as it goes” is vague. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “Aisan,” “continuesly,” “consistance,” and “singnificantly.” Build a more accurate set of trend terms, such as “urbanisation,” “increased steadily,” “remained stable,” and “reached a peak,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses linked with “but” and “since,” but control is uneven and errors sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. The opening contains sentence fragments: “Such as Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia” and “And it also predicts…” There are also problems with sentence construction and tense, as in “it started at 31% in 1990 and grows about 20% and reach total 50% in 1990,” where the time references and verb forms do not fit together. Missing or incorrect articles and punctuation also affect clarity. Practise complete sentences with consistent past-tense reporting for historical data and clear future forms for predictions, while varying sentence patterns accurately.
