Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad upward movement and make relevant comparisons, including Malaysia’s strong rise and Thailand’s comparatively low figures. However, the overview is not fully accurate: Thailand is not the lowest by the end, as the Philippines remains below it in 2040, and the Philippines’ fluctuating pattern is left unfinished. Some figures and time points are also unclear; for example, Malaysia’s 75% appears to refer to 2020, while its 2040 projection is about 84%. The description of Indonesia as rising to 63% “after 2040” misstates the endpoint and timing. To make the report more complete, summarise the contrasting trajectories and final rankings accurately, and support the overview with selected start- and end-point comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has an identifiable introduction, overview and body paragraphs, and it generally moves from an overall statement to country-specific details. However, progression is weakened by unclear or incomplete sections, especially the final sentence, “The Philippines has varing tr,” which leaves an important trend unfinished. Comparisons are sometimes placed together without clear relationships, and phrases such as “The Thailand also showed almost similar trend” make the sequence difficult to follow. Linking words such as “while” and “as” are attempted, but their use is sometimes awkward or does not clarify the comparison. Organise the body around clear contrasts—for example, Malaysia and Indonesia’s stronger growth versus the Philippines’ fluctuation and Thailand’s slower rise—and use complete sentences with clear references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “urban population,” “increasing trend,” “rapidly,” and “future prediction,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “growth in urban population” for a percentage living in cities and “uniform increasing trend” for Indonesia’s marked acceleration. Spelling errors—including “gragh,” “forcost,” “Phillippines,” and “varing”—are noticeable and reduce precision. Repetition of “population,” “trend,” and “highest” also limits flexibility. Aim for accurate chart language such as “the proportion living in cities,” “rose steadily,” “climbed sharply,” and “is projected to reach,” while checking country names and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including comparisons with “while” and clauses introduced by “as,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence structure and agreement appear in examples such as “the all urban cities of asian showed” and “its population grow very slowly.” Articles and prepositions are also often missing or misplaced, as in “in the Thailand” and “in 1970 the Phillippines had 31% population.” Punctuation and capitalisation are unreliable, with a missing space after “time.” and a lowercase “in” beginning a sentence. These errors sometimes make relationships between figures harder to understand. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, subject–verb agreement, and complete comparative sentences before adding more complex clauses.
