Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the topic and make an attempt to summarise several countries, including Malaysia’s overall rise and the Philippines’ rise and subsequent dip. However, the overview is unclear and includes an inaccurate claim that Malaysia reaches 85%: the chart shows about 83.5% in 2040, and the peak is not in both 2030 and 2040. Several figures and comparisons are also imprecise, such as saying the Philippines reaches 57% in 2040 rather than about 55.5%. Most importantly, the final sentence about Thailand is unfinished, so its later trend is not reported. To improve, give a clear overview of the main contrasts and accurately cover the projected figures for all four countries.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has paragraph breaks and broadly moves from an introduction to an overview and then country details. Grouping the Philippines and Malaysia before discussing Thailand and Indonesia is a useful organising choice. However, progression is weakened by unclear statements such as “Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia are fluctuated between each other,” and the final paragraph ends abruptly with “Thailand has plummed into 2030 and 2040 is”. Linking phrases such as “Moving towards” and “after that” are used, but they do not always make the relationships between trends clear. Use a concise overview, then organise details into clear comparisons, and ensure each paragraph and sentence is complete.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “predictions,” “climbed,” and “falling,” so the reader can recognise that you are describing changes over time. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make the account difficult to follow: “midium range of population,” “clashed” for two lines meeting, and “plummed” for a downward trend. Spelling errors such as “Asain” and “fluctated” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, conventional language for graphs, such as “urban population,” “rose,” “declined,” “levelled off,” and “converged,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and some basic clauses communicate the intended trend. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently enough to make several statements hard to interpret. For example, “The diagram below show” needs subject–verb agreement, while “both were started in 18% and 15%” has an incorrect passive construction. “Malaysia had started his range” also uses an unsuitable tense and pronoun, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise describing chart data with accurate past-tense forms for historical years and “is projected to” for forecasts. Keep comparisons in complete, clearly punctuated sentences.
