Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad pattern that urbanisation rises in all four countries and note that Malaysia is highest by 2020 and is projected to rise further. However, the account is only partial: it gives few accurate comparisons across the full period and does not clearly summarise the most important differences. For example, Indonesia rises from about 14% to 52% by 2020 and is projected to reach 64%, while the response says it reaches “fifty percent” and predicts “sixty percent.” Thailand’s gradual rise is mentioned, but its projected increase to nearly 50% is not reported. The Philippines description also overlooks its rise to a peak around 1990, followed by a decline and recovery. Select key turning points and compare the countries more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two paragraphs grouping the countries, and a concluding overview. “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Overall” help signal these stages, and grouping Indonesia with Thailand and the Philippines with Malaysia gives the report some organisation. However, the progression is not consistently clear because the grouping does not lead to sustained comparisons, and the conclusion largely repeats the general claim that all figures rise. Some references are vague, such as “these two estates” and “some goes more higher some not,” making relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Build paragraphs around clear comparisons or time periods, and use precise references to the countries and their trends rather than relying mainly on sequencing words.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “percentage,” “predictions,” “gradually,” and “highest,” so the reader can identify the subject and broad trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear. Phrases such as “population ratio,” “two estates,” “two Lands,” and “percentage of citizen” do not express the intended meaning naturally; “population” is also repeatedly used where “urban population” or “proportion living in cities” would be more precise. “Very less grown up in people” is particularly difficult to interpret. Aim for accurate, task-specific language such as “urbanisation,” “proportion,” “rose,” and “was projected to reach,” and avoid informal or improvised expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and longer sentences, and the main message is usually recoverable. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “the graph also give” should be “the graph also gives,” while “it will goes” and “it will increase” show inconsistent control of future forms. In “all the countries population going upward,” the sentence lacks a suitable verb structure, and “Philippines and Malaysia these two Lands will also rises” combines faulty agreement with an awkward construction. Articles and punctuation are also inconsistent. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then use controlled comparisons and prediction structures, such as “The figure is projected to rise to…”
