Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the overall upward direction and select relevant comparisons, including Malaysia’s strong rise and the Philippines’ peak around 1990 followed by a dip. Most reported figures broadly match the chart. However, the overview is unclear (“al of cities proportion”) and does not clearly distinguish the countries’ different patterns or note that Malaysia becomes the highest while the Philippines fluctuates. There are also inaccuracies in the forecasts: Indonesia is projected to reach about 64% in 2040, not around 60%, and Thailand is about 40.5% in 2030 and 49.5% in 2040, rather than 39% and 47%. Develop the overview more precisely and check key endpoint figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview and a sequence of country-specific details. This makes the information generally easy to follow, and transitions such as “By contrast” and “Meanwhile” help signal comparisons. However, the overview is difficult to interpret, and some linking is mechanical or incorrectly punctuated. For example, “in 2020 besides, it is predicted” joins ideas awkwardly, while the country-by-country sequence does not consistently group the strongest comparisons. Use clearer sentence boundaries and organise the details into meaningful groups—for instance, Malaysia and Indonesia as the strongest risers, then Thailand and the fluctuating Philippines.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of trend vocabulary, including “dominated,” “rose,” “dropped,” “marginally” and “dramatically,” which helps describe changes. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “showed grow gradually,” “it ratio,” “boosted sharply” and “will be soared.” Spelling errors, including “populatin,” “consistantly” and “afterthat,” also reduce precision. Some repetition of “almost” and “marginally” limits flexibility. Aim for standard chart-reporting phrases and check spelling: for example, “the proportion increased,” “is projected to reach,” and “the figure fell slightly.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses with “which” and contrasts introduced by “but.” Meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in verb forms and sentence construction occur in several places. Examples include “which will be increased,” “it ratio will be soared,” and “it will be grow”; these need forms such as “which is projected to increase,” “its proportion is expected to rise,” and “it will grow.” There are also agreement and article problems in the overview, and punctuation is weak where clauses are joined, as in “in 2020 besides, it is predicted.” Practise accurate past-tense descriptions and consistent future forms for predictions.
