Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad subject and include some relevant comparisons, such as Malaysia’s rise and Indonesia’s upward trend. However, the main features are not reported accurately or clearly enough: Malaysia reaches about 76% in 2020, not 70%, and Thailand is around 34% in 2020, not “30% at its lowest.” The Philippines briefly exceeds Malaysia in 1990, not 1980, and its 2020 figure is about 46%, rather than 40%. The forecast section also misstates the period as 2024 and repeats Malaysia instead of naming the Philippines; the projected increases are not consistently described. Give a clear overview of the countries’ relative positions and key changes, then support it with accurate figures and comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable sequence, with paragraphs introduced by “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Moreover,” and it attempts to group historical data before forecasts. This gives the reader some structure. However, progression is weakened by unclear or contradictory statements, including “the population lasts at 40% till 2020” and the final claim that there are “slight fluctuations in all countries” despite strong rises in Malaysia and Indonesia. Linking phrases are sometimes mechanical, and the overview appears only at the end rather than guiding the report. Organise the response into a brief introduction, a clear overview, and logically grouped details; use comparisons to connect related trends rather than relying mainly on sequence markers.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “predictions,” and “rising trend,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “dramatic increased,” “number of proportion,” and “the population lasts at 40%.” Repetition of “population” and “percentage” also makes the description less precise. Spelling errors in country names, including “Phillippines,” “Malysia,” and “Indosnesia,” are noticeable and reduce clarity. Build a more reliable set of trend expressions and use them accurately—for example, describe a figure as “stood at,” “rose to,” or “declined before recovering.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including clauses introduced by “which” and “while,” but complex constructions are often faulty and errors occur frequently. Examples include “the predictions … is also given,” “the number … was contineously rose,” and “the graph is shows,” which show problems with agreement and verb forms. Sentence boundaries and capitalization are also inconsistent, as in “in the contrast” following a full stop and the lowercase “in” after the preceding sentence. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise accurate past-tense descriptions for historical data and future forms for projections, and check subject–verb agreement and sentence punctuation before finishing.
