Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many people have recently developed interest in history as they become more fond of the history of the houses they live in. It is mainly because many people have adopted it as a hobby most as there are several reasons to it. In few countries many individuals are interested about the history of houses or buildings they live in. Some reasons and research of different people are given and discussed below.
One of the main reasons can be that people might want to stay in that house or a building for long run because not everyone can change houses every other month or a week due to high costs and reliability and researching one time will be quite beneficial for example a person may find out some problem in his house for long term it will be less cost efficient.
Overall living in houses for long term can be a reasons for people to show interest in history.
Another reason can be that many people are spiritual and by knwoing house or buildings history people can know if it has any spiritual connection with some places or a paranormal activity has taken place in recent times or in its long history for example if they are staying in house and they heard disturbing noises they may change and they would know the reason behind or if not now in future they may heard them.
In my opinion paranormal activity can be the reason people may be willing to find the history.
Overall living long term and paranormal activities can be the reason as people are willing to know the history researching about it

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify two possible reasons for researching a home’s past: staying there for a long time and concerns about spiritual or paranormal events. These are relevant starting points, but the response only partially answers the task because it does not explain how people can research a building’s history. The examples are also unclear or insufficiently developed: the point about discovering a long-term problem does not clearly show how historical research helps, while the paranormal example is speculative. The introduction and conclusion repeat the general topic rather than establishing a clear, focused response to both questions. To improve, explain practical methods such as checking property records, consulting local archives, speaking with previous owners or neighbours, and searching historical maps, then support each reason with a clear example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an identifiable introduction, body paragraphs and a concluding statement, and the two reasons are presented separately. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because the introduction promises discussion of both reasons and research methods, but the body covers only reasons. Several sentences repeat the same point, including the statements beginning “Overall living in houses for long term” and “Overall living long term and paranormal activities.” Linking phrases such as “Another reason” and “In my opinion” are used, but they do not create a clear sequence of explanation and support. Organise the essay around the two task questions, use one paragraph for reasons and another for research methods, and make each example clearly support its main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “spiritual,” “paranormal activity,” “high costs,” and “history,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “developed interest in history” needs an article, while “reliability” does not clearly express the intended reason for remaining in a home. “Less cost efficient” is also an awkward choice for describing the benefit of finding a problem early. Spelling errors such as “knwoing” are noticeable. Build a more precise set of expressions for researching property history and describing motives, and check collocations and spelling during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a conditional example beginning “if they are staying in house,” but complex structures are often not controlled successfully. Errors in articles, agreement, verb forms and sentence boundaries occur frequently: “in the long run” is expressed as “for long run,” “a reasons” has incorrect agreement, and “they may heard them” uses the wrong verb form. Some sentences run together, particularly the opening paragraph and the final sentence, making relationships between ideas unclear. There is also inconsistent control of clauses in the examples. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them with accurate conditionals and conjunctions; check articles, subject–verb agreement and verb forms carefully.
