Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent days this trend has become popular. In many countries people want to know about the history of their houses and seem to be interested in it. There are many reasons, like know about it's ancestors, any interesting event related to house or its market value.
Nowdays, they are now curious about its history or ancestors because they want to know is there any historical event happened ever or may be their home has any thing unique related to past time. Moreover they want to know if the house in which they are living or going to live is safe and dont have any thing srange related to this place. In addition to this, they want to know the market value of house or place whether its worth of living there or not. Most of the time land values increased or decreased with time so its an investment for future so getting information related to the house of building is a good thing.
People can collect these kind of information from different platforms. They can get it from online resources like google, facebook. They can get these details from past owner or neighbours. Moreover they can ask directly from the real estate agent about its documentations.
In conclusion, it is an interesting thing to get information for your personal interest and sometimes it seem to be center of attention for many people if you are sharing these information online, to those who have same kind of interest. This information can easily accessed from internet, google neighbours or any property dealers.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both questions: it gives reasons for researching a home’s past, including curiosity about historical events, safety, and property value, and suggests online searches, asking previous owners or neighbours, and consulting an estate agent. These points are relevant, but several are only briefly stated. For example, the claim that a house might have something “unique related to past time” is not explained with a concrete example, and the safety concern is left vague. The research methods are also listed rather than explained; describing what records or sources people could check would make this part more complete. The conclusion repeats the general value of the topic but does not bring the main reasons and methods together clearly. Develop and illustrate the key ideas more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on reasons, a paragraph on research methods, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of the answer. Linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “In addition to this” signal relationships between ideas, although their repeated use makes the progression somewhat mechanical. Some references are unclear, particularly “they” and “its” in the reasons paragraph, where the reader must infer whether these refer to people, the house, or its history. The conclusion also introduces sharing information online without connecting this point clearly to the main discussion. Use clearer topic sentences, vary transitions, and make pronoun references explicit to improve the flow between and within paragraphs.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, with relevant terms such as “historical event,” “market value,” “investment,” and “real estate agent.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. For instance, “know about it’s ancestors” does not express the intended idea clearly, while “center of attention” is an awkward way to describe a topic that interests people. There are also spelling and form errors, including “Nowdays,” “srange,” and “documentations.” Aim for more precise phrases and check spelling and collocations carefully. More specific vocabulary for historical records and property research would also help explain the methods in greater detail.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer sentences and uses basic complex structures, including “because” and “whether,” but sentence patterns are limited and errors occur frequently. Examples include “they want to know is there any historical event happened ever,” which has faulty question structure and verb forms, and “Most of the time land values increased or decreased,” where the tense and sentence construction need attention. Articles, agreement, and punctuation also cause problems, as in “the house of building” and the comma spacing in “Nowdays, they.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the general message, but they can make individual sentences difficult to follow. Practise forming accurate indirect questions and review articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries.
