Student answer (Band 6.5)
History is considered as the significant aspect of human lives. In modern times, human beings are deeply involved in finding out the past of their residential places. They do it to learn about the infrastructure details of their houses. And, They can search it by using modern and smart technology. This essay discusses both these points in detail before reaching a conclusion.
One of the main reasons that people dig the history of their houses is to learn about the infrastructure details of their residence. Knowing about the infrastructure details of one's house leads to multiple benefits, which include adopting strategies and using materials that keep the infrastructure standing. For example, if a person knows the infrastructure details of his house, he will use materials for renovation of his house, which complement the architecture of his house. Thus, learning about one home's infrastructural details results in calculated and strategic decision-making regarding renovation of the house.
To know the infrastructure details of their homes, people can employ multiple methods like the use of modern and smart technology because of it's less room for error. For instance, if a person wants to know the details of land on which his house is built, he will use the Google Earth option. This technology uses satellite images to give the details of land. For example, there is person in my neighborhood who has used this Google Earth option to find out that his house is on a river bed, which allows him to make informed decisions during the monsoon season that results in heavy flooding in the area. Therefore, technology provides a better option to know the history of residential places.
To conclude this discussion, it is important to know the history of infrastructure details of living places by employing smart technology as it results in informed decision making regarding home renovation and difficult times.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for interest in building history and methods for research. However, the development is somewhat repetitive. The essay focuses almost exclusively on 'infrastructure details' and 'renovation' as the primary reason, which limits the scope of the answer. A more comprehensive response would explore other motivations, such as cultural heritage, personal curiosity, or historical significance. While the ideas are relevant, they are not fully extended, and the focus remains narrow throughout the body paragraphs. The position is clear, but the depth of analysis is limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main points. Cohesive devices such as 'One of the main reasons', 'For instance', and 'Therefore' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the repetition of phrases like 'infrastructure details' across sentences makes the flow feel a bit rigid. Referencing is generally clear, though the connection between the introduction and the body could be smoother to improve the overall progression of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety. There is significant repetition of terms like 'infrastructure', 'details', 'house', and 'technology'. While the student attempts to use some specific vocabulary, such as 'renovation' and 'monsoon', the range is limited. There are no major errors that impede communication, but the lack of sophisticated or less common lexical items prevents the score from reaching a higher band. To improve, the student should focus on using synonyms and more precise collocations to avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as the misuse of the possessive 'it's' instead of 'its' and minor issues with article usage (e.g., 'there is person in my neighborhood'). Punctuation is generally functional, though the sentence structure is occasionally simplistic. While the errors do not impede communication, the range of complex structures is limited, and the control over grammar is not consistent enough for a higher band. The majority of sentences are clear, but more variety in clause structure would be beneficial.
