Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is completely off-topic. The prompt asks about the reasons for people researching the history of their homes and how they can do so. Instead, you wrote an essay about the negative impact of advertising on consumer budgets. Because you failed to address the task prompt entirely, the response cannot be assessed for task achievement in relation to the specific question asked. Additionally, the response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which further impacts the score. To improve, you must carefully read the prompt and ensure your ideas directly answer the specific questions posed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the logical progression is weak because the content does not relate to the topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'To conclusion', but they are often used incorrectly or in a way that does not help the flow of ideas. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall structure feels disjointed. To improve, focus on ensuring that each paragraph has a clear central topic sentence that directly relates to the prompt and that your ideas follow a logical sequence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'products', 'sales', and 'negative development'. There are also issues with word formation and spelling, such as 'advertistment' and 'purchased' (used instead of 'purchase'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. To improve, try to learn collocations and synonyms for common words, and pay closer attention to the correct form of words (e.g., noun vs. verb forms).
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'The reasons are behind this is', 'advertisement create', and 'when we bought that perfume our budget get disturb'. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb tense usage, and practice constructing more complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions.
