Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the interest in house history and methods for research. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation regarding 'curiosity' and 'school assignments' is quite brief and lacks depth or specific examples. The methods section mentions 'door to door' inquiries and the 'internet,' but these points are not fully extended. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed explanations or concrete examples to support your arguments. The position is clear, but the overall development remains basic, which aligns with the Band 6 descriptor for task response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Apart from this,' 'Moreover,' and 'Overall,' though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is functional but lacks sophistication. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall structure supports the reader's understanding of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'history of the house' and 'in which they live in.' There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'folks' (which is too informal for an academic essay) and 'trust on every information' (should be 'rely on all information'). While the meaning is always clear, the lexical range is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or idiomatic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. Examples include 'majority of the individuals are tend to research,' 'they wants to find out,' and 'each and every information is now available.' These errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage occur throughout the text. While you attempt complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly verb forms and pluralisation, which would help elevate your score.
