In some countries, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

In some countries, a lot of people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in . The various reasons for this might be of historical significance or general curiosity of such people they find a sense of pride in things which has some cultural, political, religious or some historical background.

My family had a farm house in the older part of the city where usually foreigners settled during the British era and on one random day of digging up the garden we found some hidden 200 year old Victorian silver coins. Researching about the older owners of the property from the city hall it was found that an old retired soldier used to live there before he moved out of the country during the partition of India-Pakistan.

Hence, people can find about the old owners of their house and even old documents of their properties from archives available online or from the city hall. In most of the countries you can also connect with the old residents of the building and ask about their reviews of the society.

In the 21st century the online reviews of buildings are also available and it is the go to feature to find about the boon and banes of the place. There is an another reason for people being interested in knowing the history and that is if it was owned by some celebrity because that eventually hikes up the price of their accommodation .

The range is sufficient to communicate, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score. Expanding the range of collocations and academic vocabulary would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the various reasons for this might be of historical significance or general curiosity of such people they find a sense of pride', which is a run-on sentence. Another error is 'There is an another reason', where the article 'an' is redundant. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. More attention to subject-verb agreement and punctuation, particularly in complex sentences, is needed to improve accuracy.
