Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the methods for research. The ideas are relevant and logically presented. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, while you mention 'financial decisions' regarding property research, this could be expanded with a specific example of how discovering a historical issue might prevent a costly mistake. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and could have been used to synthesize the main points more effectively. Overall, the response covers all requirements, but further elaboration would elevate the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, in the third paragraph, the list of research methods is a bit disjointed. Improving the use of referencing (e.g., using 'these' or 'such documents' to link back to previous ideas) would improve the cohesion. Paragraphing is used appropriately throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'reside', 'structural damage', and 'ownership records'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'Nowdays' (repeatedly), 'interesed', 'neighbhours', and 'coclusion'. Additionally, there are minor collocation issues, such as 'with the public residents' which is unnatural. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, the range is not yet wide or sophisticated enough for a higher band. Focusing on accurate spelling and more precise collocations will help improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement ('events that has happened' should be 'have happened') and article usage ('on internet' should be 'on the internet'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'people interest history of the homes', which should be 'people's interest in the history of their homes'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy is recommended.
