Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for interest in house history and methods for research. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The explanation regarding why people are interested—focusing on construction quality and techniques—is relevant but lacks depth. The second part, regarding research methods, is also brief. The essay would benefit from more detailed examples or a broader exploration of the cultural or personal significance of historical homes. While the response is on-topic, the arguments remain at a surface level, which prevents it from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For example, the transition 'For an example' is used, and the connection between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the link between 'soil' and 'building techniques' is not fully explained. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical, but the flow between sentences could be improved with a wider variety of linking words and better referencing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'huge number of people are too much involved' and 'Their time period of the houses are less'. The use of 'lakhs' is an Indian English term that is not standard in international English contexts. While the meaning is clear, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of errors in collocation limit the score. More precise terminology related to architecture and historical research would improve the quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('houses are which are build', 'they are the one who is going to be'), incorrect verb forms ('build' instead of 'built'), and article usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring consistent verb tense usage, particularly when discussing past versus present building practices.
