Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, but the development is limited. The reasons provided—specifically the focus on electrical wiring and water pipes—are somewhat narrow and do not fully capture the broader cultural or historical interest implied by the prompt. The research methods suggested are also quite basic. While the essay attempts to provide examples, such as the Deakin University reference, it lacks depth and logical connection to the main argument. The conclusion is abrupt and does not effectively summarize the main points or provide a final thought, which limits the overall task response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive feature. However, the logical progression of ideas is often disjointed. Transitions between sentences are sometimes mechanical or confusing, such as the sudden shift to the Deakin University example. The use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally inaccurate, which makes the flow of the argument feel somewhat fragmented. The final paragraph is particularly weak, consisting of two disconnected sentences that do not function as a proper conclusion to the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. There are frequent spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'disscusion', 'numbreous', 'gainnig', 'percisely', 'heald', and 'hirring'. These errors, combined with awkward phrasing like 'messing things at the end' and 'ensure combat the issues', indicate a limited range of vocabulary. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of precision and the high frequency of spelling mistakes prevent the essay from reaching a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('if we does not the history'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structures ('the significant reasons of finding history... is know the map'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the simple sentences used often contain errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent. These frequent errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding and demonstrate a limited control over grammatical forms.
