Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for interest in building history and methods for research. However, the development is limited. The argument regarding 'safety' is repetitive and lacks depth, focusing almost exclusively on earthquakes without exploring other cultural or historical motivations. The research methods suggested are somewhat simplistic, focusing only on contacting a caretaker. While the task is addressed, the ideas are not fully extended or supported with sophisticated reasoning, keeping the response at a basic level of development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'The reason would be conscious about the building'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. While there is an overall progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive nature of the sentence structures make the cohesion feel somewhat basic and occasionally forced.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Words like 'buildings' and 'houses' are used frequently without variation. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'invented thousands of years ago' (buildings are constructed, not invented) and 'date are almost come to an end' (which is unclear). Spelling errors, such as 'earthquack', also occur. The range is sufficient to convey the basic message, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Every buildings has', 'earthquack can destroy these houses'), incorrect verb forms ('can will visit'), and missing articles. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and the lack of complex, error-free sentences significantly limit the score. The control of punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas.
