Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for interest in building history and the methods for research. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For example, the explanation regarding 'connection to the place' is circular, and the second body paragraph focuses almost exclusively on the internet as a research tool without exploring other methods like archives, local libraries, or historical societies. While the task is addressed, the ideas are not fully extended, and the conclusion is missing, which limits the overall impact of the argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'To begging with' (To begin with) and 'Moving further, to how can people research this'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the link between the internet and the research process is repetitive. The transition between sentences is often abrupt, and the lack of a concluding paragraph makes the overall structure feel incomplete.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and contains several errors in word choice and collocation. Phrases like 'getting found of to know' (fond of knowing) and 'historicals events occurs' (historical events occurred) indicate a lack of control over basic word forms. There is also a reliance on simple, repetitive language. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision and the presence of errors in word formation prevent the response from reaching a higher band. More variety and accurate usage of academic vocabulary are needed.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'every person have access' (has access) and 'historical events occurs' (occurred). Sentence structures are predominantly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity, such as 'people those who visit'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and incorrect sentence boundaries. While the writer attempts to use complex structures, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar limits the score.
