Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for interest in building history and the methods for researching it. The ideas are relevant, such as cultural curiosity and financial safety, and the research methods like visiting government offices are practical. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The explanation regarding 'financial benefits' is slightly unclear, and the example of Ahmedabad is a bit brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or specific, illustrative examples. The position is clear throughout, and the response covers all requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'One of the major reasons', 'Another reason', and 'In addition', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally slightly awkward, such as 'In some cultural people are also curious'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother flow between sentences would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'architectural design', 'land registry', and 'official documentation'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'increasing in amount of people' instead of 'an increasing number of people', and 'low amount and choice' which is vague. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary. While the current range is sufficient to communicate, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'where a building is went through' (should be 'has gone through'), 'may not provided' (should be 'may not be provided'), and 'play an significant role' (should be 'plays a significant role'). These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. To achieve a higher score, you should aim for greater accuracy in verb tenses and article usage, and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex structures with fewer errors.
