Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for interest in building history and methods for research. The ideas are relevant and supported with a brief example. However, the development is somewhat limited; the reasons (curiosity, safety, value) are mentioned but not deeply explored, and the research methods are listed rather than explained in detail. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific details or extended reasoning. The position is clear throughout, and the response remains on-topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate (e.g., 'finally people can visit', 'secondly they can search'). Additionally, there are issues with referencing and punctuation that occasionally disrupt the flow, such as the run-on sentences in the second paragraph. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are frequent spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'Nowdays', 'intresting', 'hstory', 'anothere', and 'neigbiors'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent. You should focus on proofreading your work to correct basic spelling mistakes and attempt to use more sophisticated collocations to express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay relies on a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement ('the will discuse'), incorrect word forms ('structural damaged'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several instances of missing capital letters at the start of sentences and run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limits the score.
