Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the interest and methods of research. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The first body paragraph relies on a single, slightly anecdotal example regarding a Greek sculpture, which feels a bit narrow. The second body paragraph provides a practical example, but the explanation of research methods is limited. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the reasons (e.g., historical preservation, property value, or personal identity) and provide a more comprehensive overview of research methods, such as utilizing digital databases or government land registries, rather than relying solely on museums.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression from reasons to methods. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Subsequently', and 'To conclude' to signal the structure. However, the flow within paragraphs is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and minor grammatical slips. For instance, the transition between the example of the sculpture and the neighboring people's interest is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would strengthen the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary', 'archeological', 'prominent', and 'archives'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'form investigations' (conduct investigations), 'consult to the museums' (consult museums), and 'neighboring people' (neighbors). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that verbs are used correctly with their objects.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as 'the majority people' (the majority of people), 'interest about' (interest in), and 'deep interest to making' (deep interest in making). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to keep the score in the 6.0 range. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
