Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, but the development is limited. While you identify reasons such as research and popularity, the explanation of 'how' people research is largely missing, as you focus more on the buildings themselves rather than the methodology (e.g., archives, public records, or interviews). The ideas are somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding the popularity of buildings like the Twin Towers. To improve, ensure each paragraph provides a distinct, well-supported point that directly answers the specific question asked. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the main points discussed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'In addition' and 'Moreover' without clear logical flow between sentences. Some sentences are disjointed, making the progression of ideas feel abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when you shift between discussing historical houses and modern skyscrapers like the Burj Khalifa, which are not typically the focus of 'historical house' research. Improving the variety and precision of linking words will help the ideas flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'history belong some privilege' and 'pat story' (likely meaning 'past'). You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations, such as 'finding history' instead of 'researching history'. While you attempt to use some topic-related terms like 'enormous' and 'popularity', the overall range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. To reach a higher band, focus on learning word families and common collocations related to history, architecture, and research methods.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'those building are has history'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structure (e.g., 'people finding history because of their research study'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
