Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the interest in house history and methods of research. However, the development of ideas is limited. The reasons provided (investment value and superstition) are relevant but lack depth, and the research methods mentioned (realtors, neighbors, internet) are listed rather than explained. The essay is quite brief, and the ideas are presented in a somewhat superficial manner. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations or nuanced examples, ensuring that the connection between the history of a property and its current value is explored more thoroughly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'secondly', and 'In conclusion', the transitions between sentences are occasionally mechanical or unclear. For instance, the jump from investment value to superstition in the second paragraph is abrupt. Additionally, the use of referencing is sometimes confusing, such as in the phrase 'there are many reasons for this one can think of', where the reference is vague. Improving the flow between sentences and using a wider variety of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'trand' (trend), 'insident' (incident), 'realtors' (realtors), 'honted' (haunted), and 'superstistion' (superstition). Furthermore, some word choices are inaccurate, such as 'mach more' instead of 'much more' and 'steel' instead of 'still'. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'return on investment' and 'omen', the frequent spelling and collocation errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Focusing on accurate spelling and learning common collocations will significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Many people wants', 'house involved... is hunted'), article usage ('in city of Rajkot'), and punctuation errors. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, which limits your ability to demonstrate grammatical range. To improve, you should practice using a variety of complex sentence forms, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, and pay closer attention to basic grammar rules like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
