Student answer (Band 5.5)
In various nations, the growing number of people are curious about knowing the history of the house or building they are living in. The major causes behind this phenomenon are safety and financial concerns. An individual can get this information from the government record or neighbourhood.
The prime reason for increasing fascination about the history is related to the safety. The house may go through several previous accidents such as a flood or an earthquake. This contributes to various structural damage. Additionally, A house is often the biggest investment people make. Therefore, the buyers make sure to check the past details such as ownership history, renovation history, etc. For example, when purchasing old house, many buyers may check whether the house has faced any flood to ensure the structural stability of the house.
To find out more details about the history of any house or a building, the one thing anyone can do is visiting the government authorities related to the property such as the municipal office, the land registry office. These authorities usually contain the legal information about ownership history, construction date etc. Other than this, for the information about the renovation or previous accidents, one can talk to the neighbours or previous owner as they are very likely to be aware about the correct information. For instance, in many Indian societies, buyers mostly rely on the neighbours about the past details when purchasing any property.
In conclusion, structural concerns and the financial risks are the primary reasons for the growing emphasis on finding out the history of the house or a building people lives in. The old information about any property can be obtain from the government property records as well as from the public who lives near that property.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the interest in property history and the methods for researching it. The ideas are relevant, focusing on safety, financial investment, and practical research methods like government records and local inquiries. However, the development is somewhat basic. While the points are clear, they could be extended further with more detailed explanations or nuanced examples to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout, and the response provides a logical overview of the topic, meeting the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Therefore', and 'Other than this' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main questions. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, though the connection between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of cohesive markers to enhance the flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There is some attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'structural stability', 'municipal office', and 'land registry'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'the one thing anyone can do is visiting' (should be 'is to visit') and 'The old information' (should be 'Historical information'). To improve, the student should focus on more precise collocations and a broader range of academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include 'the growing number of people' (should be 'a growing number of people'), 'purchasing old house' (should be 'purchasing an old house'), and 'can be obtain' (should be 'can be obtained'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are minor errors in article usage and verb forms. The control of grammar is sufficient to communicate, but more consistent accuracy is needed for a higher band.
