IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some countries, more and more people are becoming interested in finding out about the history of the house or building they live in.
What are the reasons for this?
How can people research this?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, people are involved in exploring about the history of buildings and houses more than ever before. There are several reasons, such as interest in architecture and concern about their safety. Individuals can find such information with help of civil engineers as well as collecting data from internet.
In some societies, residential areas are very old with unique infrastructures. These ancient buildings are fascinating for many individuals, they curious to know about its designing, and type of materials and paints used For instance, a few buildings are made decades ago, and there temperature remain low in all seasons without any air-conditioned system. So people are curious about the reason, which materials are causing this effect. In addition, individuals are concerned about their safety, they want to know how old their house is, if renovation or repair is needed to prevent themselves from any incident.
Aforementioned questions and queries of people could be addressed by two ways. Firstly, people should take help from civil engineers because they have experience and understanding of materials that have been used to construct the building, and how it is work in insulating the building and giving a cooling effect. They also know about different architecture designs are its advantages. Furthermore, they have some tools to find out if residencies are safe to live or need redevelopment. Secondly, following the advancement in digital age it has become easier to investigate about history of houses or buildings on internet.
In conclusion, individuals are curious to know about difference between the ancient and advanced buildings, and want to ensure if it is safe to live in these or not. It is possible with the help of engineers and online data sources.
