Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the interest and methods of research. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about market value is relevant, but the explanation regarding 'suicide' is a bit narrow and lacks a broader perspective on historical or architectural interest. The second body paragraph lists methods like asking residents or visiting offices, but these are presented as a simple list rather than being fully explored or supported with detailed examples. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' with more depth and nuance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and the progression of ideas is logical. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'At first,' 'Secondly,' and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions. However, the use of these devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Additionally, some sentences lack smooth flow, such as the transition between the mention of criminal activity and the impact on pricing. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences are connected more fluidly to create a more natural, cohesive text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. You rely on common words like 'good,' 'find out,' and 'get information.' There are also some minor collocation errors, such as 'the count of people' (the number of people) and 'a government offices' (government offices). While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little attempt to use less common or more precise lexical items that would demonstrate a higher level of proficiency. Expanding your range of academic collocations would significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'Buildings are now became' (Buildings have now become), 'any other criminals activity' (any other criminal activity), and 'some people who are not having enough time' (some people who do not have enough time). These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text. While they do not impede communication, they demonstrate a lack of control over more complex structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct tense usage will help improve your accuracy.
