Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for interest in building history and methods for research. However, the development is inconsistent. The reasons provided—ancestral connection, historical curiosity, and myths—are relevant but lack depth and specific examples. The research methods section relies heavily on modern AI tools, which is a valid point but lacks a broader perspective on traditional research methods like archives, libraries, or public records. The position is clear, but the overall structure feels somewhat informal and lacks the academic tone required for Task 2. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and concrete examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow is often interrupted by repetitive phrasing and a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. While you use transition words like 'Firstly' and 'Moreover', the connections between sentences are sometimes mechanical or unclear, such as the transition into the paragraph about AI tools. The referencing is occasionally confusing, particularly in the first body paragraph where the sentence 'Some of their people lost their so, there is no one which tells them' is difficult to follow. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'things', 'good', and 'houses'. There is an attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'ancestors' and 'ancient histories', but the range is not sufficient to convey complex ideas with precision. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'getting knowledge of different things' and 'curious about that things'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and avoid informal phrasing or repetitive word usage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('It increase our knowledge'), incorrect verb tenses ('how their forefather lives'), and punctuation errors, particularly with spacing around commas. The sentence construction is often simplistic, and there is a lack of variety in complex sentence forms. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and proofreading for punctuation errors, while also attempting to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures.
