Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 178 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay addresses both parts of the prompt—reasons and research methods—the ideas are underdeveloped and lack sufficient detail or relevant examples. The explanation of why people are interested is repetitive, and the section on research methods is brief and lacks depth. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and provide a more thorough exploration of the topic to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a more comprehensive understanding of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally awkward, such as 'Reasons and approach for research is listed in ensuing paragraphs' and 'Moreover, there is an another way as well'. The transition between ideas is basic, and the conclusion is very brief, failing to effectively summarise the main points. To achieve a higher band, you should use a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, well-developed central theme that flows logically into the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There is some repetition of words like 'residence', 'house', and 'sentiments'. Some collocations are unnatural, such as 'evolving as more sentimentally attached' and 'check authorities record'. The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little attempt to use less common or more sophisticated lexical items. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and add nuance to your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'people having enthusiasm... is increasing' (subject-verb agreement), 'they want know' (missing infinitive marker), 'rises the sentiments' (incorrect verb choice), and 'there is an another way' (article error). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately without missing prepositions or auxiliary verbs.
