Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: reasons for the interest and methods for research. However, the development is somewhat superficial. The reasons provided, such as 'historical knowledge' and 'potential value,' are mentioned but not deeply explored or supported with specific examples. The methods section is more practical, mentioning online searches and municipal offices, but again, the explanation remains quite general. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific details or hypothetical scenarios to demonstrate a deeper engagement with the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. The introduction and conclusion provide a basic framework. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'One compelling reason,' 'Another reason,' and 'Moreover,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the second paragraph repeats the phrase 'where they are currently living' multiple times, which affects the cohesion. Improving the variety of linking words and avoiding repetitive phrasing would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing for clear communication. You use some relevant terms like 'fascinated,' 'residing,' and 'municipal offices.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is noticeable repetition of basic words like 'past,' 'house,' and 'living.' To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and collocations related to history and architecture. For example, instead of repeating 'past of the house,' you could use 'architectural heritage,' 'provenance,' or 'historical background.' The current range is sufficient for a 6.0 but lacks the flexibility required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is consistently clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'fascinated in researching' should be 'fascinated by researching,' and 'when the house as constructed' contains a typo ('as' instead of 'was'). Additionally, there are some awkward phrasings, such as 'convenient method is to search' (should be 'convenient methods are to search'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
