Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, but the development of ideas is limited and sometimes lacks clarity. While you mention reasons such as potential financial gain and architectural interest, these points are not fully explored. The section on how to research is particularly weak; it focuses more on the personal qualities required (patience) rather than practical methods like consulting archives, land registries, or local libraries. The example provided about Mr. Shailesh Patil is vague and does not clearly illustrate a research methodology. To improve, ensure that each reason and method is supported by clear, logical explanations and concrete, relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical progression within paragraphs is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear connections. For instance, the transition 'due to this they may get something iconic' is confusing. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as 'In which' at the start of a sentence or 'So, one of it is' in the conclusion. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track the flow of your argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each sentence builds logically on the previous one will enhance coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'things', 'stuff', and 'get', which limits the precision of your writing. There are also several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'getting passionate about doing research in the history' (should be 'into the history') and 'this work holds lot's of fluctuation' (which is unclear). While you attempt some topic-specific vocabulary like 'architecture' and 'technology', the overall range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations and precise terminology would significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('government are', 'people needs'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence construction ('how can individuals research this' used as a statement). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before periods and incorrect apostrophe usage ('lot's'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage would be a beneficial next step.
