Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the trend and the methods of research. The ideas are relevant, such as security, property value, and architectural significance. However, the development of these points is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of 'security purposes' is not explained, and the link between historical value and renovation is a bit repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or elaborate on the 'why' behind these reasons. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, but the overall development remains at a basic level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the reasons, then to the methods, and finally the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'For instance', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, although the sentence 'There are many factors to find the history of the house' is slightly awkward and does not perfectly introduce the following paragraph. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use general terms like 'things', 'ways', and 'place' repeatedly. While you attempt some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'architectural', 'heritage database', and 'census documents', the range is limited. There are minor collocation issues, such as 'find the history' (better: 'uncover the history') and 'ensure the research authentication' (better: 'verify the authenticity of the research'). Expanding your range of synonyms and collocations would significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'which needs to determine' should be 'which needs to be determined', and 'persons can use' is slightly unnatural (better: 'individuals can use'). There are also minor subject-verb agreement issues, such as 'the history of the house of building' (should be 'or'). While these errors do not impede communication, they demonstrate a lack of consistent control over complex structures, which is necessary for a higher band.
