Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to address the prompt but fails to provide clear, logical reasons or methods for researching building history. The ideas are largely underdeveloped and often confusing, such as the mention of 'scientists' or 'expensive products' in the context of researching a house's history. The response lacks a clear position and the arguments provided are not relevant to the task. The content is frequently disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the intended message. To improve, you must focus on brainstorming clear, relevant points that directly answer the 'why' and 'how' questions posed by the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a logical structure. While there are paragraph breaks, the progression of ideas is not clear. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'so' and 'however' which do not effectively link ideas. The introduction is confusing and does not clearly outline the essay's purpose. The conclusion does not summarize the main points effectively. To improve, you should focus on using linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition') to connect sentences and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that relates back to the prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate, which frequently impedes communication. There are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'histrionic' instead of 'historical', 'knollwedge' for 'knowledge', and 'gaject' for 'gadget'. The word choices are often inappropriate for the context, such as using 'products' when referring to historical aspects of a house. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas, leading to repetitive and simplistic phrasing. You need to focus on learning the correct spelling of common words and expanding your vocabulary related to academic topics.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The essay contains frequent and severe grammatical errors that make the text very difficult to understand. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragments or run-on sentences, such as 'that is many people like this history part beacuse they are like it'. Punctuation is also largely absent or misused, which further disrupts the flow of the text. The range of grammatical structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. A significant focus on basic sentence construction and grammar rules is required.
